JoAnn K. Willard

JoAnn Kunkle Willard, 74, of Newberry, widow of Young Mancel Willard, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 28, 1940, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Ellis and Eleanor Folk Kunkle. She was a registered nurse having retired as an administrator of White Oak Manor-Newberry. She volunteered as a nurse at the Newberry County Free Medical Clinic after retirement. Mrs. Willard was a member of Cannon's Creek-Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she served as the congregational chairperson.

She is survived by a son, Michael (Lisa) Willard of Newberry; a daughter, Fran (Rick) Martin of Newberry; a sister, Janice K. Hall of Batesburg; brothers, Jim Kunkle of Pomaria and Tommy Kunkle of Prosperity; grandchildren, Dustin and Todd Hatchell, Jessica, Spirit, Breanna and Madison Martin; a great-grandson, Brayden Hatchell. Mrs. Willard was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Hatchell, a son-in-law, David Hatchell.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Cannon's Creek-Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by the Rev Brett Blackman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Cannon's Creek-Prosperity ARP Church, 14417 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108.
