John Amick

John McKinnon Amick, 78, of Pomaria, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 22, 1940 in Columbia, he was the son of the late Roland B. and Kinlea Biggs Amick. He was a lifelong member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Southeastern Freight Lines for 35 years. He was a former member of the Jamil Temple Warriors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Glenda Lucas Amick; a daughter, Pam (Jimmy) Wilson of Pomaria; sons, John Amick, Jr. of Pomaria and Mike (Lisa) Amick of Winnsboro; sisters, Jerri (Lester) Newton of Gaston, Libby Jones Thomas of Columbia, and Becky Oliver of Georgia; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Charles William Amick.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Pine Bluff Baptist Church by the Rev. Eddie Walker. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 PM at the church. Memorials may be made to Pine Bluff Baptist Church, 1025 Pineview Drive, Columbia, SC 29209.

Active pall bearers will be his grandsons.
