John “Johnny” Burton Bouknight, 59, of Prosperity, died Monday, April 2, 2012.
Born on November 8, 1952, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Virgil Bouknight and Rosemary Folk Oxner. He was an employee of Bel Ivy Trucking and a member of Colony Lutheran Church.
Mr. Bouknight is survived by his wife, Toni Morris Bouknight; children and their spouses, Andy and Jaimie Bouknight and Dee Dee and Jay Peel all of Prosperity; brothers, Bobby Bouknight of Pomaria and David Bouknight of Carlisle; grandchildren, Whitney Mills, Marie Roton, Alexis Bouknight, Jayden Peel, Cole Bouknight, Cason Peel and Dustin Hendrix; a number of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Shannon Hendrix.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Colony Lutheran Church, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Helen Beebe, 181 Tailers Trail, Leesville, SC 29070.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Barnes, Brad Bouknight, Jamie Bouknight, Steven Hendrix, Steve McKean, Benji Morris and Allen Sligh.
