Paula Jolene Abney Wicker, 76, of Prosperity, widow of Milford Delanor “Mickey” Wicker, died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at White Oak Manor.
Born on May 31, 1938, in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late James Belton “J.B” and Lillian Strickland Abney. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies Bible Class and the Golden Agers. She volunteered at the Newberry Opera House. Mrs. Wicker loved people.
She is survived by sons, Alan Dale (Donna) Wicker of Newberry, Randal Scott (Sherri) Wicker and James Boyd (Buffie) Wicker both of Prosperity; a daughter, Linda (Allen) Chapman of Little Mountain; a sister, Gail Willard of Newberry and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Bobb and brothers, Wayne Abney and Ronald “Buster” Atkins.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brent Nichols. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. the family is at the home of Randal and Sherri Wicker, 2978 Candy Kitchen Road, Prosperity. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Restoration Fund, 2496 SC Highway 773, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pallbearers will be Dalton Chapman, Cody Wicker, Seth Wicker, Kevin Willard, Allen Chapman, Earl Wicker, Jack Brunnemer and Ethan Hancock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony and Brandi Johnson.
The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor and Charlotte Berry with Palmetto Health Hospice for their loving care.
