Joseph Moore

Joseph Daniel Moore, 70, of Prosperity, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on September 4, 1947, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Daniel Pinkney and Willie Mae Smith Moore. He was retired after 31 years from Clinton Newberry Natural Gas Authority and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Mr. Moore's greatest pleasure in life was having a fishing pole in his hand. He also enjoyed camping and was a devoted fan of Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. Mr. Moore was a loving husband, father, and Papa.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Metze Moore; sons, Joseph Scott (Ashley) Moore and Brett (Rachael) Moore both of Prosperity; a sister, Betty Ruth Jones of Prosperity and grandchildren, Lane Moore, Amber Turner, Jordan Moore, Brittany Moore, Makayla Moore and Daniel “Boone” Moore. He was predeceased by a brother, Jacob Shelton Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 19, 2018, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will Lane Moore, Kyle Moore, Ronnie Wicker, Jamie Wise, Paul Major, Bobby Coats, and Simpson Eargle.
