Joseph Roy Fulmer, 72, of Prosperity, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland.
Born on February 1, 1946, he was a son of the late James Wright and Mertie Mae Mills Fulmer. He served thirteen years with the Greenwood Police Department and retired as a Sergeant from the Newberry Police Department. After retirement he served as a security guard at Newberry College and Newberry Hospital. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Fulmer is survived by his wife, Joyce Oswald Fulmer; a son, Gary Roy (Susan) Fulmer of Newberry; a daughter, Lori (Alan) Longshore of Prosperity; a brother, Eugene Fulmer of Marion; grandchildren, Noelle Smith, Kaysey Fulmer, Blake Longshore, Jonah Fulmer, Carlee Longshore and Elijah Longshore and great-grandchildren, Patrick Livingston and Haylee Livingston. He was predeceased by his brothers, Herman Fulmer, Marvin Fulmer, and James Carol Fulmer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 2, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Philip Fulmer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
