Joseph Stewart

Joseph Allen Stewart, 73, of Prosperity, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 peacefully at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Stewart was born on July 8, 1936 in Longtown, SC, a son of the late David Palmer Stewart and Louise Guyton Stewart Sharpe. He was retired from Mayfield Dairy. He was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his brothers, William “Billy” Stewart and Palmer Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anne Stewart of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Jan (Kenny) Fanning of Orangeburg, Ms. Cindy Stewart of Columbia and Mrs. Margo (Ricky) Black of Barnwell; a sister, Dorothy Cannella of Longtown; two grandchildren, Becca and Ashley Fanning. Mr. Stewart also leaves behind his beloved cocker spaniel, faithful canine companion, Duchess.

Memorial services will be conducted at 5:00 PM Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randall Derrick.

Friends may call at his residence, 207 Living Inn Court, Prosperity, SC.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Harmony Care Hospice, 100 Ashland Park Lane, Suite K, Columbia, SC 29210 or Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Harmony Care Hospice as well as his physicians and staff for their care shown to Mr. Stewart. The family would also like to thank family, friends and neighbors for all of their love, prayers and support.
