Joseph King White, 80, of Prosperity, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born on February 7, 1930, in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Joseph Howard and Ione Poteat White. Mr. White was retired after 40 years from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and had served in the S.C. National Guard. He was a member of the Prosperity Masonic Lodge # 115 AFM and was a very avid fisherman.
Surviving is his wife, Doris Amick White; a son, Marty (Donna) White of Newberry; daughters, Robin (Paul) Long of Newberry and Candy (Scott) Frick of Little Mountain; a step-son, Ken Garrett of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Faye Gore and Juanita Duffie both of Newberry and Jody Black of Prosperity; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. White was predeceased by a brother, Olin D. White and sisters, Helen Morris and Libby Rose.
Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Newberry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Helen Beebe, 181 Tailers Trail, Leesville, SC 29070.
Active pallbearers: Robert Earl Bobb, Donnie Evans, Wayne Hiller, Richard Koon, Zeke Kyzer, Joey Morris and Tommy Prince.
