Joyce Joann Bowers Morse, 84, of Pomaria, widow of Charles Franklin Morse, Sr., died Monday, October 19, 2015, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 10, 1931, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Elbert William and Pearl Dominick Bowers. Mrs. Morse worked for Old School Manufacturing and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She loved her family and church and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Mrs. Morse is survived by daughters, Toni (Roger) Wells of Lyman and Melinda (John) Hall of Pomaria; sons, Charles (Margie) Morse, Jr. of Prosperity, Elbert (Joanne) Morse of Pomaria, Steven (Donna) Morse of Prosperity and Leslie (Rhonda) Morse of Five Points, AL; sister, Gay (Jimmy) Davenport of Newberry; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Edna Long and brothers, David Bowers, Richard Bowers and Ralph Bowers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 22, 2015, at New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Daniel Eplee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, c/o Robert Davis, 256 Graham Cemetery Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
