Joye Shealy

Joye Dowd Shealy, 82, of Prosperity, widow of J. Colie Shealy, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on December 1, 1930, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late John Ed and Eva Enlow Dowd. She was retired from Old School Manufacturing and was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Shealy is survived by a son, Phil (Susan) Shealy of Chapin; a brother, Harold (Joan) Dowd of Newberry; a sister, Barbara Speece of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Cristi (Jerry) Kemp, Shelly (Brian) Baity, Heather (Jason) McCormack and Stacie (Michael) Martin; three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patty S. Mills.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dick Albert and the Rev. Randall Derrick. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, PO box 352, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the charity of one's choice.
