Judy Kesler

Judy Hawkins Kesler, 80, of Prosperity, died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Saluda Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born on April 20, 1942 in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late James Maxie and Lula Mae Bowers Hawkins. Judy was a 1960 graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. She worked at Old School Manufacturing Company, and she and her husband owned and operated Country Side Farms. She kept children for many years and referred to them as her “babies”. She was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Golden Agers and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a wonderful seamstress and also enjoyed cooking, quilting and crocheting .

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph A. Kesler; daughters, Karen (Lee) Neighbors of Greenwood, Gina (Charles) Metts of Newberry, and Kathy (Brian) Fulmer of Prosperity; a sister, Linda Pitts of Prosperity; grandchildren, Sam Neighbors, Dr. Addison Neighbors, Anna (Andrew) Walker, Joseph (Morgan Woods) Metts, Christopher Metts, Bradley Fulmer, and Derek Fulmer.

She was predeceased by a brother, James Clyde Hawkins and a sister, Annette Hawkins Shealy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, March 27, 2023 at Macedonia Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Saluda Nursing and Rehab Center, 581 Newberry Highway, Saluda, SC 29138.

Active pallbearers will be Joseph Metts, Christopher Metts, Bradley Fulmer, Andrew Walker, Lee Fulmer, Lyle Fulmer, Billy Pitts, and Patrick Hawkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles and Joyce Moore, Leon and Meridith Fulmer, Derek Fulmer, Addison Neighbors, and the Doctors and Nurses at Saluda Nursing and Rehab Center.
