Judy Summer

Mrs. Judith Anita Knight Summer, 84, of Newberry, went to heaven on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

She retired from running a child care business which she loved. She loved taking care of children and did so for many years. After Judy retired she spent her time enjoying life and spending time with her family and traveling. She loved going to the mountains and visiting Cades Cove. She enjoyed everything the mountains had to offer. Judy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a wonderful mother and loved her children very much. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family. She was also a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. When she wasn't spending time with her family she loved cooking and she really did love reading. She would just read all day if she could. Judy enjoyed eating good food that her granddaughter would cook for her and she enjoyed watching TV and relaxing. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she got great pleasure out of decorating a tree and seeing the lights glow. She always said it was truly a beautiful time of the year. She also enjoyed her granddaughters dogs and was their dog grandmother. They as well will miss her and all her cuddles that she gave to them.

Judy enjoyed going and visiting her friends and talking on the phone to them. When her illness struck she still loved being around family and loved ones. She was a hardworking woman and she will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She leaves behind her children, Robert Michael Summer, Bart Summer and Regina Wood and her wonderful grandchildren and precious great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Summer, her parents, Robert Knight and Virginia Welch Starnes and a brother, Bruce Knight.

The family would like to thank Pastor Amick and the Three Oaks Hospice especially Tiffany her nurse and Crystal her CNA and Cindy for all the wonderful care you gave Miss Judy. She certainly appreciated it very much. The family thanks each of you from the bottom of our hearts.

You may be gone but you will never be FORGOTTEN! May you fly high in heaven.
