Julia Turner, 66, of Newberry, widow of Robert Wayne Turner, died Monday, August 30, 2010, at Providence Hospital.

Born on July 5, 1944, in Newberry, she was a daughter of Essie Enlow Turner Suit and the late Robert A. Turner. She was retired from American Fiber and Finishing-Oakland Plant and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Mrs. Turner enjoyed working in her yard and loved spending time with her “boys” - Trouble, Precious, Fluff Fluff and Pot Gut.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Newberry is a step-son, Larry Wayne Turner of Prosperity; sisters, Nancy T. Shealy, Catherline (David) Amick, Mary (Donnie) Beck all of Newberry; a brother, Robert A. (Jimmie Nell) Turner of Newberry; a sister-in-law, Linda Turner of Fayetteville, NC; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step-father, Rufus Suit.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Randall Derrick and Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of her mother, 202 Glenn Street, Newberry and will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall Fund, 4056 St. Luke’s Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
