George Julian Bedenbaugh, 85, of Newberry, widower of Julia Ann Stockman Bedenbaugh, died Friday, April 22, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland.
Born on February 15, 1931, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Koon Maybank and Nancy Ruth Smith Bedenbaugh. He worked as a meat cutter for the Colonial Stores and later retired from Louis Rich. He was a Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He was a HAMM operator and for many years enjoyed camping.
Mr. Bedenbaugh is survived by daughters, Sandra B. Lominack of Newberry and Renee B. (Jimmy) Sligh of Prosperity; a sister, Virginia Cannon; a brother, Ralph Bedenbaugh; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Steve Bedenbaugh and a grandson, Will Lominack.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 24, 2016, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to Palmetto Hospice, 1400 Pickens Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Steele, Rodger Steele, Kent Bedenbaugh, Michael Bedenbaugh, Kyle Bedenbaugh, Stephen Suber and Dennis Suber.
