June Rister

June Bedenbaugh Rister, 60, of Newberry, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on March 2, 1956, in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Otto Bedenbaugh and Lois Buffington Bedenbaugh Rollins. She was a former administrative assistant with Kraft Heinz. Mrs. Rister was a member of First Baptist Church where she was member of the Ed Ellis Sunday School Class and very active in many activities of the church. She was known for her great cooking and often catered for people.

Mrs. Rister is survived by her husband, Wayne Rister; a son, Christopher Michael (Cindy) Rister of WI; a daughter, Sherrie (Tommy) Gailbrath of Newberry; sisters, Dallas Merchant of Newberry, Ester Cole of Beech Island, Brenda Berry and Molly Martin both of Saluda; step-brothers, Charles Rollins and Oliver Rollins both of Saluda; four grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Leoris West and Jerald Bedenbaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 19, 2017, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Albert Allen and Rev. Corey Watson. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of her sister, Dallas Merchant. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Active pallbearers will be Sam Baird, Bill Harvey, Phil Strickland, Terry Murphy, Roger West, Reggie Martin, Jonathan Bedenbaugh and Hunter Hawkins.
