Katheryn Shivers Meetze

Katheryn Grace Shivers Meetze, 84, of Prosperity, widow of Walter Barron Meetze, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland.

Born on December 18, 1938, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Almond O”Kelley Shivers. Mrs. Meetze was retired from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.

She is survived by sons, Jack Barron Meetze of Prosperity and James Anthony “Jimmy” (Tanya) Meetze of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Victoria Lei“Vicki” Kelly of Prosperity and Sheryl Anne Wright (Timmy) of Leesville;a sister, Cynthia Anne Shivers Stewart of Prosperity; grandchildren, Kristie Lei (Jason) Peterson, Lucas Barron (Crissy) Meetze, Michael Anthony Meetze ( Sarah), Jessica Katheryn Meetze, Samantha Anne Wright, Corbin James Meetze and Carolena Grace Meetze and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Margo Shivers Wessinger.

The family will hold a private family celebration at a later date.

The family suggests that in her memory and in honor of her best friend, Shadow, memorials be made to the Newberry Humane Society, PO Box 485, Newberry, SC 29108.
