Kathryn Amick McEntire, 89, of Newberry, widow of James Ralph McEntire, died Sunday, December 25, 2016, at J.F. Hawkins Health Care.
Born on July 14, 1927, in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Early and Chole Shealy Amick. She was retired from Bell South and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mrs. McEntire was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church where she was organist until 2015 a position she had held for many years. She was a member of the Erin Wood Bible Class and the Mary Addison Circle.
Mrs. McEntire is survived by sons, Jim (Kay) McEntire of Newberry and Allen (Janet) McEntire of Whitmire; a daughter, Marie (Barry) Hickman of Newberry; grandchildren, Dr. Mayes (Amy) McEntire, Dr. Mark McEntire, Madeleine McEntire, Mariclare McEntire; step-grandchildren, Chris (Donna) Hickman and Alex (Angela) Hickman;great-grandchildren, Laney McEntire and Riley McEntire; step-great-grandchildren, Peyton (Skylar) Davis, Gaylen Hobbs, Kayleigh Hickman, Marlie Hickman, Ali Hickman, Hunter Rorick and Alex Hickman; step-great-great-grandchildren, Piper Davis, Paislee Davis and Lila Hickman; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Ruth A. Shealy and Aliene A. Reeves and a brother, Edgar Amick.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Epting Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. William Hightower. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Epting Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Amick, Dale Shealy, Larry Shealy, Steve Reeves, Tee Bartley, Mac Bartley, Robert Bartley, Jr. and Benny Bartley.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Erin Wood Bible Class and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
