Kathy Minick

Kathy Miller Minick, 77, of Newberry, widow of Lewie Randall Minick, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at White Oak Manor.

Born on May 29, 1947, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Joe Hoyt Miller and Connie Burnett Miller Kirkland. Mrs. Minick had worked for Damon International and later retired from the Newberry County Schools as the manager of Boundary Street Elementary Cafeteria. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching western movies. 

Mrs. Minick is survived by sons, Joseph Randall (Kandy) Minick and Chesley Dean (Leslie) Minick both of Newberry; a daughter, Rhonda Louann (Leo) Frick of Columbia; a brother, Hoyt Dewey Miller of O'Neill, NE; grandchildren, Kolby, Kayley, Paige, Christopher, Charles, Libby and Madisenn and a great-granddaughter, Delaina. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. At the request of Mrs. Minick everyone is encouraged to dress casually. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. 

The family suggests no flowers, but that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. 

Active pallbearers will be Kolby Minick, Kristiana Enlow, Kayley Minick, Paige Frick, Libby Frick, Madisenn Minick, Duane Miller, Ty Senn and Brian Shealy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Reeder, Dr. Frank Voss, Pearl Rosemond, LeJune Gary, Dorothy Shannon, Geraldine Miller, Susan Wise, Daphne Fraizer, Nancy Goss, Timothy Wicker and the staff of Newberry Internal Medicine.
