Kenneth Alexander “Kemp” Fuller, 79, resident of 217 Georgia Avenue, husband of Frances Runell McCoy Fuller died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Hospice House.
Born in Newberry, July 18, 1934, he was a son of the late George Berlie and Zula Odella Stribble Fuller. A graduate of Newberry High School, Mr. Fuller enjoyed playing baseball throughout high school and played semi-professional baseball for the St. Matthews Cardinals from 1951-1955 overcoming the odds that he would play any sport having been diagnosed with Polio at age 7. He went to Area Trade School in Columbia, where he received a certificate in refrigeration. He was a District General Manager for Whiteford’s Kentucky Fried Chicken for thirty-eight years. Mr. Fuller was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Woodmen of the World.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Humphries of Newberry and Margie Cannon of Charleston.
Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-nine years of the home are a daughter, Boni Davis and husband Rev. Bobby Davis; three grandchildren, Angie Graham and husband Jeff, Jeremy Davis and wife Velvet and Jared Davis and wife Rue; eight great grandchildren, Schanen Sinnott, Ashlen Sinnott, Garrett Graham, Sammantha Moore, Jacob Moore, Christian Davis, Idella Hensley and Connor Davis, all of Ninety Six; two brothers, George Fuller and wife Vernice of Greensboro, NC and Paul Kemper Fuller and wife Linnis of Charlotte; and four sisters, Mary Elise Summer of Newberry, Bobbie Jean Long and husband Derieux of Sumter, Elden Linwood “Woodie” Bedebaugh of Charlotte, NC and Lavenia “Punk” Beck of Newberry.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Davis and Rev. Brian Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Brown, David Stevens, Mike Carruth, Scott Calhoun, Jeremy Davis, Jared Davis, Jeff Graham and Schanen Sinnott.
Honorary escort will be David and Louise Kelley, Frank Whiteford, Cindy Carruth, Rev. Johnny Waller, Marvin Godfrey, along with all former and current Kentucky Fried Chicken employees.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
