James Kenneth “Kenny” Long, 79, of Little Mountain, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at his home.
Born on July 30, 1945, in Newberry, he was a son of the late James Leland and Mary Ruth Boland Long. Kenny retired after 34 years from SCE&G. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Johnsie Wicker Long; a son, Ken (Renae) Long of Little Mountain; daughters, Chrystal (Mike) Burgess of Lexington and Julie (Michael) Hipp of Chapin; a brother, Roger (Barbara) Long of Little Mountain; a sister-in-law, Debbie Long of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Hillary (Josh) Barrow, Zach (Ashley) Long, Caylee Burgess, Jackson Burgess, Manning Burgess, Madelyn Burgess, Nathan Hipp and Mackenzie (Daniel) Cosola and great-grandchildren, Keaton Barrow, Cohen Barrow, Carter Long, Lawson Long and Caroline Long.
Kenny was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary Metts and a brother, Don Long.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Counts. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to the Little Mountain Rescue Squad, PO Box 8, Little Mountain, SC 29075 or Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Special Fund, 816 Mt. Tabor Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
Active pallbearers will be Zach Long, Nathan Hipp, Jackson Burgess, Manning Burgess, Bobby Dominick and Phil Martinez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby and Betty Counts, Voight and Peggy Counts and Linda Dowd.
