Katherine McConnell “Kitty” Abrams, 85 of Newberry, widow of Wallace Martin Abrams died Monday, May 7, 2018 at White Oak Manor.
Born on March 19, 1933 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Addie Mae Maw McConnell. She was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church. She worked at Old School Manufacturing and also J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home where she retired as a C.N.A. She enjoyed sewing and working in her yard. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Abrams is survived by two sons, Dan (Frances) Abrams and Jim Abrams both of Newberry; a daughter, Susan (Keith) Hill of Little Mountain; a sister, Grace (Bob) Harvey of Newberry; 8 grandchildren, Danielle (Bran) McElveen, Jared (David) Abrams, Anne (Josh) Cromer, Crystal (Chris) Crouch, Carly (Dave) Hall, Hayley (Cameron) Clary, Kendyl (Adam) Hudgens, and Jesse (Brittany) Hill; great grandchildren, Colt, Mathieu, Kate, Steinway, Lennox, Jules, Addi, Aryn, Karis, Berit, Piper, Kaleb, Ian, Jade, Randi, Hayden, and Charli. She was predeceased by sisters, Margaret McConnell, Connie Baynard, and Bert McEntire and a brother Flop McConnell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dave Hall. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Boys Farm, P.O. Box 713, Newberry SC 29108.
