Larry Champion

Larry Cleveland Champion, 66, of Newberry, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Self Regional Hospital.

Born on February 22, 1947, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Sue Champion. He was retired form American Fiber and Finishing and served in the Army during the Vietnam War from which he was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Finley Champion; a son, Larry Woodrow Champion of Newberry; daughters, Dawn Smith of Whitmire; step-daughters, Melissa Barbare and Nickie Woodward both of Newberry; step-grandchildren, Shaila Dexter and Haylee Snead.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 20, 2013, at Rosemont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
