Leah Long

Leah Long, 94, of Prosperity, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Springfield Place in Newberry.

Born on December 8, 1915, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Belton L. and Sallie Bouknight Long. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, was a Superintendent of Sunday School, was a member of the choir, youth director and a member of the W.M.U.

Surviving are her sister, Annas Long; nieces, Roxdell Woody, Sandra (Bobbie Allan) Oxner, Lorraine Shealy, Carolyn Findly; nephews, Belton (Miriam) Dennis and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Miss Long was predeceased by sisters, Lafuchia Taylor, Carville Counts, and Alousisbell Dennis and a brother, Poteat Long.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Rob White. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 2503 Bethel Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church.
