Bennett Lealon “Pa Pa” Amick, 67, of Prosperity, died Saturday, February 1, 2014, at his residence.
Born on August 10, 1946, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Boinest Lee and Rosalyn Shepard Amick. He was a 1964 graduate of Mid Carolina High School and was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Amick was the service manager for Cromley Ford and was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran where he was a former church councilman. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the S.C. Wildlife, a member of the Newberry Lions Club, a member of the Cook's Mountain and Dunn's Mountain Hunt Clubs. Lealon loved to barbecue.
Mr. Amick is survived by his wife, Brenda Merchant Amick; a daughter, Brantley (Nathan) Haupt of Prosperity; a brother, Eddie Lee Amick of Columbia; grandchildren, Spencer Franklin, Ann-Marie, Bridget, Maggie and Chloe Haupt. He was predeceased by a daughter, Stacy Amick.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00- 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church, PO Box 678, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be William Shepard, Andy Turner, Ritchie Koon, Barry Hartman, Bryan Hall and Mike Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cook's Mountain and Dunn's Mountain Hunt Clubs.
