LeGrande Bouknight ascended to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence of 2692 Gary's Lane Road, Newberry, SC surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Newberry County on December 4, 1929, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Hattie Amick Bouknight. Up until recently he was an active member of Bush River Baptist Church where he loved singing in the church choir and taking trips with the Joyful Hearts of Bush River. He was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Bouknight was retired from Greenwood Mills. He loved farming with his sons and grandsons and taking care of his Angus herd.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Pitts Bouknight; sons, Timothy (Elaine) Bouknight and Stan Bouknight both of Newberry; grandsons, Wesley (Tiffany) Bouknight and Jason (Meagan) Bouknight. He was the last surviving sibling having been predeceased by brothers Jack Bouknight, Horace Bouknight, Lewis Bouknight, Earl Bouknight and Clarence Bouknight and sisters, Bernice Kinard, Frances Dawkins, Hattie Mae Martin and Grace Harmon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Brian Preston and Rev. Terry Martin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bush River Baptist Church, 8936 Bush River Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be James Bouknight, Gary Bouknight, Mike Kinard, Jerry Kinard, Carl Kinard, Mike Brehmer, Steve Brehmer and Henry Brehmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Adult Sunday School Class of Bush River Baptist Church.
