Lena Murrell Hazel, 78, of Newberry, widow of Leland Hazel, died Monday, August 17, 2009 at Lowman Home.
Born on August 22, 1930 in Edgefield, she was a daughter of the late Tolbert and Frances Covington Murrell. Mrs. Hazel was a former employee of Newberry Mills and a member of Faith Assembly of God.
Surviving are sons, Raymond Costello and Larry Hazel both of Newberry; a daughter, Patsy B. Lindler of Chapin; sisters, Dorothy Owens and Linda Walker both of Johnston; brothers, Charles Murrell of Edgefield, Monty Murrell of Aiken, Wayne Murrell, Jerry Murrell and Johnny Murrell of Johnston; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Mitchel Burriss and Rev. Gary Lyerly. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Faith Assembly of God, 798 Fair Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
