Leonard "L.D." "Dick" Garland

Leonard David “L.D.” “Dick” Garland, Sr., 69, of Silverstreet, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 5, 1952, in Greenville, OH, he was a son of the late William F. and Clora Elizabeth Garland. He was an Army veteran and a former iron worker. He enjoyed spending time riding his Harley and fishing. He loved his family dearly.

He is survived by sons, Leonard David “Dicky” Garland, Jr. of Silverstreet and Scottie Allen Garland of Newberry; a sisters, Sherry Renee Roberts of Swansea and Linda Kunkler Garland of OH; brothers, Danny Joe Garland of Greenwood, Ronnie Dwayne Garland of Newberry and Terry Kunkler Garland of OH; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Michelle Meetze, Brittany Nicole Storey, Jacob Reid Garland, U.S.M.C.,  Corey Mitchell and J.R. Adams and three great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Tara Alexis Garland Sims.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 5:00 pm at the Newberry Church of God.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate that memorials be  made to McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, 29108 to help with funeral expenses.
