Leonard “D. D.” Bennett Williams, 82, of Newberry, SC died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on February 28, 1932. He attended Myrtle Beach High School where he was on the Seahawks baseball team. He was later owner/manager of the former Broadway Billiards in Myrtle Beach. More recently, he was retired from Bedenbaugh Liquors in Newberry.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Carolyn Kinard Williams, his father and mother, Guy and Shirley Williams and two brothers Norman and Guy M. Williams. He is survived by his son, Ted B. Williams and his girlfriend, Stephanie Hendrix and her daughter, Gena (Scott) Roton, all of Newberry. He is also survived by two beloved granddogs, Coney (Corn Dog) and Bella (Woo Woo), as well as his cat Bullfrog.
He loved his family, his garden, little animals, Myrtle Beach, the ocean and surf fishing.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery in Myrtle Beach; guests are asked to dressed casually. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorials to the S. C. Sea Grant Consortium or to a charity of ones choice.
