LeRoy Shealy Adams, 80, of Clemson, SC, passed away at his home on Sunday night, July 11, 2021. He was born in Newberry, SC, on April 27, 1941, and was the last surviving son of the late Virgil LeRoy and Julia Mae Shealy Adams.

A graduate of Newberry High School, LeRoy went on to earn a degree in Modern Languages from Clemson University in 1963, where he was also a member of Mu Beta Psi, a bassoon player in the Clemson University Symphony Orchestra, and the only cymbal player in the Clemson University Tiger Band. After graduating college, he worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years, eventually moving into insurance consulting. He later worked as a development officer for the School of Architecture, was the Executive Director of the Clemson Advancement Foundation for Design & Building, and he was a Life Donor to IPTAY. He retired in 2015. LeRoy was an active member of First Baptist Church of Clemson and sang in the church choir.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine B. Adams, his daughters Anna Adams Hirth and husband Chris of Chapel Hill, NC, and Amy Adams Moore and husband Kim of Greenville, SC, and his grandchildren Blake Hirth and Addison Moore.

A visitation celebrating LeRoy’s life will be held Friday evening, July 16th, from 5-7pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108. There will be a graveside service at Newberry Memorial Gardens, 15127 C. R. Koon Hwy, Newberry, SC 29108, at 11am, Saturday, July 17th. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Clemson on Sunday, August 1, at 2pm, and in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to FBCC Music Ministry, 397 College Ave, Clemson, SC 29631.
