Lila Mae “Babe” Amick Derrick, 85, of Chapin, widow of Lester James “Jack” Derrick, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Springfield Place.
Born on May 5, 1932, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Eugene and Annie Long Amick. She was a 1952 graduate of Prosperity High School. She worked briefly for Dreher Packing Company and retired as a seamstress from Old School Manufacturing of Prosperity. Mrs. Derrick enjoyed working in her yard and vegetable garden and also spent many hours crocheting items for family and friends. She loved her family and friends and prepared many delicious meals for all occasions.
She is survived by a son, Randy Dale (Cindy) Derrick of Prosperity; daughters, Shirley (Vernon) Counts and Debra (Allen) Arnold both of Little Mountain; sisters, Eva Pearl Lindler of Chapin and Sara Shealy of Prosperity; sister-in-law, Elsie Derrick Kibler of Chapin; grandchildren, Jennifer (Stanley) Sweet, Jason Derrick, Jamie (Shelly) Boland, Christopher (Jennifer) Boland, Lester (BriAna) Arnold, Anna Arnold, Dylan Derrick and Melissa Derrick; step-grandchildren, Daniel (Lex) Shaw and Justin (Kayla) McKean; great-grandchildren, Makayla Sweet, Nicholas Sweet, Michael Arnold, Elizabeth Arnold and Conner Boland; step-great-grandchildren, Danny Shaw, Emma Grace Shaw, Thomas McKean, Kayleigh McKean and Kayla Deavey and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Connie Boland, a great-granddaughter, Savannah Counts Sweet and a sister, Ruth Bush.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Macedonia Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Randy Derrick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Meade, Scott Meade, Ted Arnold, Brian Fulmer, Eric Hornsby, Stanley Sweet, Kenneth Frick and Kelvin Frick.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Springfield Place Unit 4.
