Lila Mae Hurt

Lila Mae Dixon Hurt, 102, of Newberry, widow of Dewey C. Hurt, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

She was born on July 25, 1912 in Greenwood to the late Charles Wesley and Ola Burkett Dixon. Mrs. Hurt was the oldest member of Glenn Street Baptist Church and was retired from Kendall Company, Mollohon Plant.

She is survived by grandchildren, Gregg (Lynn) Taylor, Ronnie (Wanda) Taylor, Donna Taylor, Debby (Larry) Stanfield; great-grandchildren , Allen Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Heather Taylor, Allison Taylor, Deanne Blake and Laura Stanfield; a great-great-granddaugther, Savannah Barnes; daughter-in-law, Linda Hurt of Cayce; a grand-son-law, Arloe Hayden. She was predeceased by a son, Clive Hurt, a daughter, Norma Hurt Taylor, a granddaughter, Cynthia Hayden. She was also predecease by all of her siblings.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 17, 2014, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Michael Whitesides. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Glenn Street Baptist Church, 300 Glenn Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Activity fund at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home, 1330 Kinard Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Gregg Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, Larry Stanfield, Arloe Hayden and Allen Taylor.

The family would like to thanks the staff of Unit 1 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home and Dr. Oscar Lovelace for their loving care.
