Lillie Woodward Griffin Harmon, 95, of Pomaria, died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at White Oak Manor.
Born on June 24, 1927 in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Colie Woodward, Sr. and Lillie Belle Fulmer Woodward. She was a graduate of Bush River High School and retired from Senior Catering and the Newberry County Council On Aging. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Harmon loved gardening, sewing, and working on crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She was twice married, first to the late Kenneth Royal Griffin, Sr. and then to the late William Hodges Harmon.
She is survived by a son, Harry (Deborah) Griffin, Sr.; daughters-in-law, Ada Griffin and Jan Griffin; grandchildren, Jamie Griffin, Deena (Rudy Sligh) Griffin, Beverly (Mike Shealy) Griffin, Jennifer (Richy) Hornsby, Cindy Griffin, MSG Harry H. (Julia) Griffin, Jr., Jacqueline (Daniel) Morrow, Gayle (Jeff) Taylor, Victoria Griffin, Dena Carter, and Carrie (Chris) Taylor; a special great-granddaughter, Breck (Josh) Sligh; great-grandchildren, Carolyne, Zach, Ryan, Manny, Elijah, Corwin, Fiona, Jax, Kenneth, Patricia, Ethan, Caylee, and Payton; great-great-grandchildren, Kasen and Makinley.
She was predeceased by sons, James “Mike” Griffin, Kenneth Griffin, Jr., and David Griffin; a brother, Henry Colie Woodward, Jr.; sisters, Mae Lee, Anna “Nick” Monroe, Frances Griffin, and Hattie Lever; and great-grandsons, Raven North Sligh and Chavis Berley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Arden Hallman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church , 209 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC 29126 or to the Newberry County Council on Aging, 1300 Hunt Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pall bearers will be MSG Harry Griffin, Jr., Ryan Griffin, Josh Richardson, Carolyne Hornsby, Zach Hornsby, and Manny Gutierrez.
Honorary pall bearers will be the Staff of White Oak Manor and the Staff of MSA Hospice.
