Lillie Sample

Lillie Mae Sumner Sample, 84, of Newberry, widow of John William Sample, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Born on June 12, 1937, in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Savannah Shaw Sumner. She had worked at Glassmaster and was a member of Newberry Church of God.

She is survived by sons, Steven Earl (Anne) Hamilton of Newberry, and Kenneth Ray Hamilton of Joanna; a daughter, Lisa (Michael) Willard of Newberry, a sister, Vivian Long of Newberry, and a brother, James Edward Sumner of Greenwood; nine grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She is predeceased by a son, Marion Clint Hamilton.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Wilkes. The family will be at her home and will receive friends after the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice Care, 2521 Evans Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
