Lin Slaton

Linoel “Lin” Slaton, 83, of Newberry, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at White Oak Manor.

Born on September 5, 1931, in Lincolnton, NC, he was a son of the late Claude and Hazel Rosson Slaton. He was the retired owner of Home Furniture Company. Mr. Slaton was a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church where he was a former layman of the year, former church councilman, and sang in the choir. He was also a former Gideon and had the opportunity to speak in many churches within Newberry County. He was a very active member of the Faith Home where he had served as president of the board of directors.

He is survived by a brother, Wayne Slaton; daughters-in-law, Bobbie Jo White and Missy Livingston; grandchildren, Edward R. Slaton and Shanna Slaton and great-granddaughters, Izabella Slaton and Sophia Wade Newkirk. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Mabel Hiller Slaton, a son, Ross Slaton, a grandson, Dalton Slaton and siblings, E. C. Slaton, John Slaton, Billie Slaton, Clara Sahal, Irene Wessinger, Estelle Martin and Beulah Slaton.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Eddie Duncan. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Tri County, 13795 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108.
