Linda Jean Brown Kelley, 71, of Prosperity, died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Agape Hospice House.
Born on February 18, 1945, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Richard Warner and Nelva Adams Brown. She was a graduate of Mid Carolina High School and was Miss Mid Carolina in 1963. She worked for SCE&G at the VC Summer Nuclear Station. Mrs. Kelley was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and the UDC Drayton Rutherford Chapter 152. She was an EMT-I and was a member of Lake Murray Rescue Squad and a former assistant chief of the Little Mountain Rescue Squad. Mrs. Kelley was a PADI certified open water diver, trained in repelling and was an experienced recovery and rescue diver. She was also a certified operator of the Jaws of Live.
She is survived by her husband, Victor J. Kelley, Jr.; a daughter, Pamela Smith (Robert) Brookman; a son, Keith Smith; step-sons, Victor “Trey” Kelley III and John Ezzell; sisters, Peggy Joyce (Dick) Stepp, Barbara Alice (Frank) Lyerly, Martha (Charlie) Taylor and Ruthie Hamm; a brother, Tommy (Janet) Brown; grandchildren, Meagen Brookman (Jake) Price, McKenzie Brookman, Gaivnion, Maggie and McKenna Smith, Lizzy and Brennan Kelley and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jameson Price.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Randall Derrick. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. Memorials may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 355 Lexington Avenue, 15 th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
Active pallbearers will be Gaivnion Smith, Robert Brookman, Jake Price and Matthew Boger.
