Linda Axman Busby, 60, of Newberry, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at her residence.
Born on November 8, 1948 in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Albert Lee and Hazel Craft Axman. Ms. Busby was a graduate of Erskine College and an employee of 30 years at Newberry County Memorial Hospital, a member of the Sunshine Committee at the Newberry Opera House and a Charter member of the Newberry Community Choir having sung with the choir for 15 years. She was a Queen Mother of the “New Girls from the Berry”. She was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church where she had various responsibilities such as a choir member, teaching Sunday School and the Women’s Group.
Surviving are her daughter, Emily Busby Metts and her husband, Jonathan of Prosperity; a brother, Lamar Axman and his wife, Deborah of Midlothian, VA; her precious granddaughter, Emma Reese Metts; a nephew, Benjamin Axman and a niece, Whitney Axman both of Midlothian, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Scott E. Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
