Linda Carol Griffin, 69, of Pomaria, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born on September 1, 1947, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Armour J. and Mary Ellen Keaton Griffin. She obtained her bachelor degree from Newberry College and her masters degree from Western Carolina and retired from the Newberry County School District as an educator at Mid Carolina High School. Miss Griffin was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she had served as treasurer for ten years, served as a Sunday Sunday School teacher for 50 years, was a former chairperson on the Church Council, sang in the choir and was a member of WELCA.
She is survived by a sister, Barbara (Mike) Ware of Pomaria; a brother, Randy (Lynn) Griffin of Lone Star; nieces and nephews, Carson Ware, Amy (Wil) Davis, Michael (Amanda) Ware and Chris Griffin; great-nieces and nephew, Savannah Corley, Maggie Corley, Ellie Catherine Ware and A.J. Ware. Miss Griffin was predeceased by a brother, Earl J. Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Art Hallman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund, 209 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Bonner, Travis Fulmer, Tommy Griffin, Rusty Griffin, Donald Wessinger and Wesley Griffin.
