Lisa Amick Mowbray, 52, of Prosperity, peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on December 13, 1963, she was the daughter of Gaynell Lake Amick and the late Heyward Amick. She retired from the State of South Carolina after 33 years of service. From 1984 to 1998, she worked at the South Carolina Department of Transportation and later the South Carolina Forestry Commission from 1998 until her retirement in 2016. Lisa was an avid animal lover and Gamecock fan who enjoyed attending home football games with her sister. She was also a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (Pineywoods) in Chapin where she taught Sunday School for many years and was involved in other various entities.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Mowbray, Jr.; mother, Gaynell L. Amick; sister, Patricia Amick; brother, Ronnie (Susie) Amick and special nieces, Kimberly (Will) Chapman and Dixie (Galen) Roche. There were precious little ones very dear to her heart – Brantlee, Hannah, Ali, and Natalie. Additional survivors include aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family will be at the residence of her mother and will have visitation Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, September 2, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church (Pinewoods) in Chapin by the Rev. David Tholstrup and Rev. Scott Kierstead. Due to the prediction of severe weather the interment will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Newberry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Transportation Fund, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
Pallbearers will be David Lake, Kevin Lake, Steven Lake, Stuart Lake, Tony Lake, Carroll Stockman, Harroll Stockman and Tim Stockman.
Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers with the SC Department of Transportation and the SC Forestry Commission.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Lexington Medical Center, Dr. Madden and Lexington Oncology, Dr. Adams and the Medical University of South Carolina, and Palmetto Health Hospice.
