Louise “Nanny” Alewine Goggans, 97, of Newberry, widow of William “Doc” Goggans, Jr., died Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her residence.
Born on February 2, 1922, in Silverstreet, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Nannie Blair Alewine. She was retired from Damon International and was a member of Cross Point Church. Mrs. Goggans loved her family and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicki G. (James) Folk of Newberry; a son, Scott (Monica) Goggans of Newberry; sisters, Martha Watts of Newberry and Julia Wessinger of Whitmire; grandchildren, Jamie Folk, Benji (Jennifer) Bickley, Heather (Mark) Thomason, Wendy (Tracy) Long and Chad (Candace) Frick; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters, Nancy Jean (Donald) Frick and Wanda Faye Goggans and her siblings, Nancy Longshore, James Alewine and Thomas Alewine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Logan Folk, Tanner Folk, Zach Frick, David Long, Jason Sexton and Tim Collins.
