Lula Mae Souther Laughlin, 88, of Newberry, widow of Hubert Jack Laughlin, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at J. F. Hawkins Health Care.
Born on June 20, 1926, in Schoolfield, VA, she was the daughter of the late Houston Pres and Connie Hollar Souther. Mrs. Laughlin was retired from Belk Budget Fair. She was a member of the Ann Street Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and served on the teller committee.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda M. O'Donnell of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Angela M. (Stanley) O'Donnell Parrish of Rock Hill and Robert (Michelle) O'Donnell of Chester; great-grandchildren, Kayley O'Donnell, William O'Donnell, Bailey Parrish and Carson Parrish; sister-in-law, Jeanette Souther and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Laughlin was predeceased by brothers, Charles Hubert Souther, Odis James (Frances) Souther, Sr., Billy Ray Souther and Royal Lean Souther.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Wilmar Park Baptist Church in Concord, NC by the Rev. William Lester Parrish, Jr. and Mr. Michael Truesdel. Memorials may be made to Ann Street Methodist Church, 335 Ann Street NW, Concord, NC 28025 or Wilmar Park Baptist Church, 584 Wilmar Street NW, Concord, NC 28025.
