Luther Evans “Buster” Bowers, 72, of Prosperity, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his residence.
Born on June 13, 1946 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Clemson Eugene Bowers and Lola Mae Morgan Bates. He was US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from CSX Railroad as a Roadmaster. Mr. Bowers was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife, Lois Jane Brown Bowers; daughters, Tracy Michelle Bowers (Chuck) Bledsoe and Elizabeth Ann Bowers (Dan) Weaver both of Lexington; brothers, Wilbur Otis Bates, Jr. of Prosperity; sisters, Jeanette Bowers Anderson and June Bates Nichols both of Batesburg-Leesville, Barbara Bowers Livingston and Wanda Bates Brewer both of Prosperity; grandchildren, Hunter Evan Moore, Evan Troy Weaver, Hadley Grace Weaver and Chase Haring Weaver. He was predeceased by his step-father, Wilbur Otis Bates, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 until the hour of service at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter Evan Moore, Tim Weaver, Jimmy Livingston, Steve Shealy, Sidney Gambrell and LeRue Jordan.
