Donald McMaster “Mac” Harrison, Jr., 61, of Newberry, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Lexington Medical Center from complications of pancreatic cancer.
Born on August 23, 1950, in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Donald McMaster Harrison, Sr. and Margaret “Peggy” Reid Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Lander College and served in the S.C. National Guard. He was a semi-retired substitute teacher and worked for Stokes-Trainor and also worked in the banking industry. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a former member of the Newberry Civitan Club and was an avid tennis player.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Melody Barber Harrison; a son, Reid (Jami) Harrison of Greenwood; a daughter, Lynn (Mac) Harrison McDonald of Newberry; a brother, David Harrison of Richland, WA; grandchildren, William McDonald, Jennifer McDonald and Brynn Elizabeth Harrison; father and mother in-law, George and Betty Barber; sisters-in-law, Leslie Barber Harmon, Sarah Griffin and Cherie Bowers; brothers-in-law, Herb Barber, Paul Folk and Bill Folk. He was predeceased by a brother, Robin Harrison.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 2, 2012, at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tresco Shannon and Rev. Karen Radcliffe. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 67, Newberry, SC 29108.
