Mae Amick Miller of Newberry, SC died on June 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Blessed are the saints who die in the Lord!
The wife of 67 years of Eddie Cloma Miller, Sr., she was born in Lexington County, SC on August 8, 1925, the oldest child of Henry Clinton and Corie Elberta Lindler Amick.
A life-long Lutheran, she was baptized at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church (Little Mountain, SC), grew up in Macedonia Lutheran Church (Prosperity, SC) and was a member, until her death, of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church (Newberry, SC). She was a member of the Myrtle Derrick Circle and Service Group.
Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Little Mountain High School and worked as a seamstress in the garment manufacturing industry. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was featured in the ILGWU magazine, Justice . She retired from Old School Manufacturing Company in Prosperity, SC.
Her greatest joy was her family. She loved to see her family gathered at the kitchen table, celebrating each other. She passed on her loved of God's creation to her children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. She was a prolific vegetable and flower gardener. In addition, she sewed and crocheted, creating quilts, afghans, and clothing for her family. Her quilts and embroidered tablecloths are treasured by those who received them.
Mrs. Miller was predeceased by her sisters, Eva Mildred Longshore (Thomas); Annie Lucille Dominick (Wyman); brother, Jacob Lee Amick (Faye); grandson, James Fredrick Cook; and son, David Milford Miller.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Miller is survived by her sons; Pastor Eddie C. Miller, Jr., (Kate Power); James Richard Miller; daughters, Linda Miller Cook (Marty), Diane Miller Way (Mack) and Sandra Miller, all of Newberry, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Cook James (Brian), Chester, SC; Christopher Kevin Cook (Kelly), Titusville, FL; Stephanie Miller Yarbor (Brian, Caryville, FL; Melanie Miller Green (Michael), San Francisco, CA; and Daniel Miller and Danny Miller (Corrine), Newberry, SC. In addition, Mrs. Miller is survived by her great-grand children, Noah, Grayson and Caroline Cook, Titusville, FL; Addision James, Chester, SC; Patrick and Emily Yarbor, Panama City, FL; Dylan and Juliette Green, San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her brothers, Henry Lamar Amick (Nancy); William David Amick; George Ellis Amick (Louise); Harvey Clinton Amick (Ann); and Charles Ray Amick (Wanda) all of Prosperity, SC.
Visitation will be held at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 20, 2014 at Newberry Memorial Gardens, Newberry, SC.
