Maggie Lee Davis, widow of the late John Will Davis, of Newberry, passed away Friday, May 27th, exactly 39 years to the date of her mother, Josie Franklin who died on May 27th, 1972. Funeral Services will be conducted 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 29th at Faith Lutheran Church, Wilson Road, Newberry with visitation at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.

Born August 29, 1916, in the Beth Eden community of Newberry County, she was the eldest daughter of William Hayne Franklin, Sr. and Josie Brock Franklin. At age 94, she was the oldest surviving member on both sides of her family. Mrs. Davis was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and its oldest member. She was a former choir member, Sunday School teacher, life member of WELCA and a member of the Leisure Club. Prior to retirement, she had worked for many years in retail sales. She had resided on Wilson Road, and more recently at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home, Newberry, SC.

Survivors include her son, Lewis Hayne Davis and his wife, Annette Gresham Davis; one granddaughter, Polly Lee Davis and her mother, Polly Livingston Davis; two step-grandchildren, Clayton Cotney and Jason Cotney and two step-great granddaughters, Zoey Cotney and Chloe Bedenbaugh.  She is also survived by her sister, Joan F. Phibbs of Aiken and two sisters-in-law, Sara Byrd Franklin and Mary Buist Franklin.

She was predeceased by two brothers, William Hayne Franklin, Jr. and Gus Brock Franklin, Sr.; and one sister, Ida F. Hawkins.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Bill Franklin, Gus Franklin, Jim Franklin, Henry Franklin, George Franklin, Andy Hawkins, Robert Phibbs and Ben Phibbs.

Honorary pall bearers are Dr. Alton "Butch" Garrison and Dr. Wade Nichols.Memorials may be sent to Faith Lutheran Church, 1505 Wilson Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
