Margaret Dodgen Harmon, 88, of Newberry, widow of Tommie Earl Harmon, died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 2, 1922, in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Bessie Lee Mills Dodgen. She was retired from General Electric in Irmo and was a member of the Roadrunners. Mrs. Harmon was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Joy Group and the Francis Asbury Sunday School Class.
She is survived by daughters, Terry (Sam) Crawford of Sumter and Rita (Cliff) Channell of Augusta, GA; a brother, Clayton Dodgen of Columbia; grandchildren, Kate Channell of Statesboro, GA, Traci (Jason) Morse of Sumter and Julie (Tim) Brumbelow of Jefferson, GA and a great-grandson, Sam Brumbelow.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Wightman United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Turner. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service Wednesday in the old fellowship hall of the church. Memorials may be made to Wightman United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 376, Prosperity, SC 29127.
