Margaret B. Wicker, 82, of Prosperity, widow of Cecil E. Wicker, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Palmetto Baptist Health Hospital.

Born on July 22, 1926 in Prosperity, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Minnie Day Boozer. She was retired from Greenwood Mills in Joanna, a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Newberry County Council on Aging.

Surviving are a son, Jerry Lee (Angela) Wicker of North Augusta, SC; a daughter, Joyce (Kenneth) Shealy of Prosperity; three grandchildren, Phyllis Lynn Wicker of Columbia, Gene Kenneth “Kenny” (Michelle) Shealy II of Prosperity and Lee Michael (Clancie) Wicker of North Augusta, SC; two great-granddaughters, Chesney K. and McKenna A.Shealy of Prosperity; three step-great grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah and Darren Mayson of North Augusta, SC and a very special friend for over 40 years, Mary S. Miller of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Wicker was predeceased by a brother LeRoy Boozer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Bethany Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence of her daughter, 2850 SC Highway 219, Prosperity. Visitation will be Monday from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 2704 Nance Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
