Marion G. Bradfield

Mrs. Marion G. Bradfield , 88, of Newberry, SC passed away unexpectedly at Prisma Health Richland Hospital on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.

Born in Chambers County, AL on December 30, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Mary Bennett Gray of Fairfax, AL . She graduated high school in Nashville, TN.

She was retired from Newberry County Department of Public Safety. Marion was a member of Epting Memorial UMC and the Volunteer Department of Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Even at age 88, she was still very active in her volunteer duties and very independent in her daily activities. Marion and her late husband for many years enjoyed square dancing with the Smiling Swingers. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, playing cards, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Most of all, she loved and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren!

Marion is survived by her sister, Faye G ( Frank) Fuller of Ooltewah, TN; sons Darrell Bradfield of Newberry and Randy (Kim) Bradfield of Prosperity; two grandchildren, Kevin (Leigh) Bradfield of Summerville and Kristen (Nate) Nickel of Columbia; two great-grandchildren Hayes Randall Bradfield and Caroline Jane Bradfield; nephew, Frankie Fuller of Chattanooga, TN; great- niece Grayson (Brandon) Chatfield, great-nephew Garrett Fuller; and one great-great niece, Ryleigh Chatfield.

Besides her parents Hiram and Mary Gray, she was predeceased by her husband, F.P. Bradfield, and niece-in-law, Tara Fuller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday January 4, 2020 at McSwain-Evans Chapel by Rev. William Hightower with burial to follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 110, Columbia, SC 29204, to the NCMH Volunteer Department P.O Box 497, Newberry SC 29108, to Epting United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the charity of one’s choice.

The family will be at her residence at 1508 Clarkson Ave, Newberry.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Bradfield, Nate Nickel, Casey Bradwell, Tim Milstead, Johnny Stevens and Blair Long.
