Marjory Ann Palmer, 79, of Prosperity, died Monday, October 17, 2016, at the Saluda Nursing Center.

Born on December 18, 1936, in Downey, CA, she was a daughter of the late Ellis Everett and Ann Lillian Pou Olsen. She had resided in Charleston, SC and recently moved to Prosperity, SC. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Charleston. Mrs. Palmer was active in the ladies auxiliary of the Marine Corps League of Charleston, the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Mayflower Society. Her hobbies included crocheting and she spent much of her free time crocheting lap robes for nursing home residents, VA hospital patients, and shut-ins. She also crocheted burial dresses and caps for babies who were taken too soon. She was a long-time supporter of Pet Helpers of Charleston a no kill society. Mrs. Palmer was a wonderful seamstress who made most of her own clothing. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, George Gerald Palmer; children, Mary (Wayne) Bostick of Woodstock, GA, Travis (Anita) Pigott of Charleston, Philip (Karen) Palmer of Prosperity, John (Yonnie) Palmer of Florida, Lorraine (Don) Whitely of Goose Creek; siblings, Joyce Leiva, Carol Fulasco, Michael Blake, and Stephen Blake; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and 25 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Patty Baker, Stephen Blake, Bobby Blake and Buddy Blake.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Scott Kierstead. Memorials may be made to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
