Marquis Emanuel “Mark” Hallman, 90, of West Columbia, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Lexington Medical Center.
He was born in Leesville to the late Oliver Davis and Sarah Ethel Kleckley Hallman. He was a graduate of Newberry College and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Hallman taught school for a decade and later worked in the computer field. He retired from Dixie Tool Distributor. He was a founding member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Hallman loved gardening and fishing. He studied art and music and enjoyed painting pictures and playing the violin. He also enjoyed his wood working shop. Mr. Hallman was a loving husband, father, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dollie Smith Hallman; a son, Michael Hallman; brothers, Raymond (Helen) Hallman and Randy (Saradean) Hallman; sisters, Janelle (Paul) Havird and Kaye (Gene) Ford; granddaughter, Monica (Jonathan) Whitehead; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma Grace and Elizakate Whitehead and a brother-in-law, Billy Moore. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jacque Hallman and siblings, Prentis Hallman, Lanier Hallman and Brenda Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Vance Fossum. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to the church, 2920 Pella Avenue, W. Columbia, SC 29170.
