Martha L. McCarty

Martha Longshore McCarty, 67, passed away peacefully in Virginia Beach, VA on September 14, 2015.

Born in Newberry, Martha was the daughter of Elizabeth (Libby) Mills Longshore and the late Milton B Longshore. She graduated from Strom Thurmond High School and SC Cosmetology School. Martha was a generous and loving southern lady.

She cherished her two grandchildren, Hannah and Austin McCarty, the joy of her life. Martha was very thankful to all who helped during her illness, especially Terri, Connie, and her sister, Margaret.

Martha loved cooking and sharing recipes with everyone. She was proud of her ancestry, the many families who live in Newberry County as well as those elsewhere. Her final wish was to return to her childhood church and rest eternally among those who have died before her.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, October 3, 11:00 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Flowers are welcome as well as memorial donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1160 Trinity Rd, Newberry, SC 29108.
